Our climate is changing, but what are we doing about it?
The City of Toronto declared a climate emergency in 2019, but this would mean nothing if we don’t change the way we design and build our cities. "Future Cities, Future Us" was designed to build a youth-led, intergenerational exchange of ideas with the goal to create a collective, actionable vision of future cities. Ideas were submitted by youth to build a physical and digital display for the 2019 Future Cities Canada Summit and Community Studio at Evergreen Brick Works. City-building professionals and visitors of all ages responded to these ideas and helped inspire our youth to take real action. “Future Cities, Future Us” was a special climate action project of Urban Minds and 1UP Toronto, in partnership with Evergreen and ENCORE Lab at OISE. Read more about the youth's ideas on the project website below, or hear from one of our 1UP Fellows, Mengyu Gao, about his experience in his blog post on Medium. |
